Shelby's Story: Narcolepsy

In this video, Shelby Cole shares her experience living with narcolepsy type one with cataplexy, a chronic neurological disorder that affects the body’s ability to regulate sleep and wake cycles.

A registered nurse, wife, and mother of three, Shelby describes the years of debilitating fatigue, sleep attacks, and testing that ultimately led to her diagnosis. She also discusses the emotional and practical challenges of managing narcolepsy, including treatment access, insurance denials, and the stigma surrounding a condition that is often misunderstood. Through advocacy, support groups, and education, Shelby hopes to raise awareness and help others living with narcolepsy feel less alone.

This video is part of a larger initiative supported by an educational grant from Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc.
