AMCP/AMCP Foundation Joint Research Committee
Mission
To promote and encourage the creation and dissemination of relevant and credible research to advance patient care services in managed care pharmacy and improve health care for all.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a research agenda that identifies and prioritizes critical evidentiary gaps in managed care pharmacy.
- Disseminate research agenda to researchers, funding bodies, and others to advocate for research initiatives to address the identified evidentiary gaps.
- Cultivate student and practitioner interest in research.
- Consult with the AMCP Foundation, BBCIC, AMCP Research Institute, AMCP Educational Affairs Committee, JMCP Editorial Advisory Board, and other entities or individuals involved in research to assess research needs, gaps, and projects as needed.
Composition
- The Joint Research Committee (JRC) will consist of a maximum of ten (10) individuals, including a Chair and Vice Chair. There must be equal representation of AMCP and AMCP Foundation appointed members.
- The Immediate Past Chair of JRC serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member.
- Two Board liaisons, one each from AMCP and the AMCP Foundation, will be appointed to the Committee annually by their respective boards. The Board Liaisons are non-voting members of the Committee.
- The Chair of the JMCP Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) may assign up to two EAB members to regularly participate in the JRC as non-voting liaisons.
- The Editor-in-Chief of JMCP and the Executive Director of BBCIC may be invited to participate in the JRC as non-voting liaisons regularly.
Qualifications
The committee should include diverse stakeholders with backgrounds and interests in research (e.g., manufacturers, academics, consultants, managed care pharmacists, researchers). Committee members appointed by AMCP will be AMCP Active or Associate members. Those appointed by the AMCP Foundation do not have to be AMCP members.
Term of Appointment
- All committee members serve a one-year term. Terms may be renewed for two additional one-year terms. Terms may be renewed beyond this at the discretion of the AMCP President-Elect or the AMCP Foundation during the regular Committee appointment process. Terms of members must be staggered.
- The role of Committee Chair will alternate each year between the AMCP and AMCP Foundation representatives. In the year the AMCP appoints a Chair, the Vice Chair will be appointed by the AMCP Foundation and vice versa.
Time Commitment
Committee members are expected to attend all meetings, including national meetings and other scheduled meetings as needed, and to participate in Committee activities.
