Managed Care Pharmacy Leaders Recognized with Distinguished Awards at AMCP 2026

Alexandria, Virginia, March 31, 2026 – AMCP and AMCP Foundation are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 AMCP Awards, which honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the managed care profession and the AMCP organization. These awards are presented annually during the AMCP Annual Meeting.

“These worthy recipients set out to improve managed care, not win awards,” said AMCP CEO Susan A. Cantrell, MHL, RPh, CAE. “But we at AMCP firmly believe that they deserve honors given their outstanding contributions to our work, field, and community.” 

The Steven G. Avey Award, AMCP Foundation’s highest honor, recognizes exceptional and sustained contributions to managed care pharmacy. Additional awards celebrate leadership, volunteerism, advocacy, education, and innovation. The 2026 award recipients are:

Steven G. Avey Award: 

William K. Fleming, PharmD, FAMCP 
Retired, Consultant
Dr. William K. Fleming is a healthcare executive and board advisor with more than 30 years of leadership experience at Humana, where he held senior roles across insurance, care delivery, and healthcare policy. Recognized for his strategic leadership and operational expertise, he led major initiatives spanning primary care, home health, and pharmacy services while supporting a wide range of insurance products, including Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and commercial plans. His work consistently drove measurable improvements in clinical quality, member experience, and cost performance.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fleming held multiple C-suite leadership positions and played a key role in aligning Humana’s insurance and care delivery assets to advance integrated, value-based care models. He also helped position Humana as a national leader in pharmacy services, overseeing the growth of a high-performing pharmacy benefit manager and expanding pharmacy’s role in improving outcomes and affordability. 

Distinguished Service Award

Deb Curry, PharmD, FAMCP
Health Delegates, Illuma Advisors
Deb Curry, PharmD, FAMCP, serves as Chief Clinical Officer at Health Delegates and President of Illuma Advisors. She leads the development of innovative clinical and formulary strategies that support both organizations and their clients.

With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Curry has held senior leadership roles across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. She previously served as Senior Vice President of the Clinical & Product Centers of Excellence at SS&C Health, overseeing formulary and rebate management, network strategy, and clinical analytics. Her background also includes positions as Senior Director of Formulary & Clinical Strategy at OptumRx, Medical Science Liaison at Boehringer Ingelheim, and key roles within regional health plans.

Distinguished Service Award

Terry Cothran, DPh.
Oklahoma Health Care Authority
During his 30 +-year career, Terry Cothran has had the opportunity to experience many aspects of pharmacy from Retail, Specialty, Managed Care, Academia and Government. Terry is currently Chief Pharmacy Officer for The Oklahoma Health Care Authority with direct oversight of the pharmacy benefits provided to over one million Oklahoma Medicaid members.  In his current role he has an obligation to provide the best care possible to the Medicaid members of Oklahoma while being good stewards of the taxpayer’s dollars.  This requires providing an efficient and quality product to the state of Oklahoma while operating under a limited budget.  He was fortunate to be instrumental in Oklahoma being the first Medicaid state to obtain CMS approval and implement a Value-Based Contract (VBC) with a pharmaceutical manufacturer. He helped implement several other contracts over the years and continues to work with manufacturers to further this work.  

Individual Contribution Award

Alexis Sova, PharmD
Employers Health
Alexis Sova, PharmD, is a Clinical Advisor at Employers Health, where she works with employer plan sponsors and benefit professionals to help manage their pharmacy benefits. Alexis has been actively engaged in AMCP since her time as a student and remains passionate about advancing the managed care pharmacy profession and supporting the next generation of leaders in the field. Her involvement with AMCP has been shaped by the mentorship she received early in her career, which continues to inspire her commitment to giving back to the organization and serve as a mentor to students interested in managed care. 

For the past two years, Alexis has served as the Treasurer and Student Engagement Chair for the Ohio-Kentucky AMCP Affiliate. In these positions, she has helped strengthen engagement between students and professionals while expanding opportunities for student involvement within the affiliate. She also serves on AMCP’s national Schools of Pharmacy Relations Committee, where she works to foster relationships between schools of pharmacy and the managed care community.

Spirit of Volunteerism Award

Jenna Meisner
Market Pharmacy
Jenna Meisner serves as Vice President, Market Pharmacy in South Carolina, where she leads market-level pharmacy strategy and partners across clinical, operational, and payer teams to improve access, quality, and value in pharmacy care. Her work is grounded in advancing managed care pharmacy through collaboration and innovation, with a focus on improving patient outcomes while supporting providers and health systems in delivering high-quality, sustainable care.

A member of AMCP for more than 16 years, Jenna has been an engaged volunteer leader supporting initiatives in education, professional development, and the advancement of managed care pharmacy. She played an integral role in the founding of AMCP’s Women’s Integration Network (WIN) and has served as President-Elect, President, and Past President. She will soon transition to Co-Chair of the Communications team and is also in her third year supporting the Carolinas AMCP affiliate planning committee. 

Advocate of the Year Award

Stephanie Roberts
Luminopia
Stephanie Roberts is an accomplished Market Access leader with over 25 years of experience in biopharmaceutical and prescription digital therapeutics, driven by a deep passion for ensuring patients have seamless access to innovative treatments. Her career spans the full arc of market access — from managed care account management at Eli Lilly, Bayer Healthcare, Acorda Therapeutics and Otsuka, to senior leadership roles at Akili Interactive, and now Luminopia, where she serves as Head of Market Access.

Known for her strategic clarity, integrity, and ability to build trusted relationships with national and regional payers, PBMs, and state Medicaid accounts, Stephanie consistently translates complex market dynamics into winning access strategies. Colleagues and team members describe her as a fearless communicator and collaborative leader who coaches others to excellence while delivering measurable results. 

New Practitioner Award

Matthew Wittman
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas
Matthew Wittman is the Pharmacy Manager, Commercial Markets at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, where his primary role is formulary management and group account management for commercial lines of business. Prior to his role at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Matthew obtained his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, with honors.  He completed his PGY-1 Managed Care residency at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan in association with the University of Michigan, where he held a clinical adjunct faculty role. He has delivered guest lectures for the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, Wayne State University College of Pharmacy, and he holds an adjunct faculty role delivering lectures at the University of Kansas College of Pharmacy.  

Experiential Education Preceptor Award

Christopher Diehl
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield
Christopher Diehl is Director, Clinical Pharmacy Programs and Education Experience at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield in Rochester, NY.  He is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of pharmacy related cost saving and quality initiatives with Accountable Care Organizations across New York State and oversight of pharmacy-related quality programs for Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial lines of business.  He also manages student experiences including external internships and pharmacy rotations. Prior to Excellus, Chris worked at Lifetime Health Medical Group, a patient centered medical home located in an underserved community, developing clinical pharmacy services for disease management including hypertension, diabetes, and asthma. 

Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Director/Preceptor Award

Tara Thomas
Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP)
Tara Thomas is the Vice President of Pharmacy Network Strategy and Managed Care Residency Director at Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP) in Albany, NY. In this role, she leads initiatives that advance affordability, access, and innovative pharmacy solutions for the communities the plan serves. Throughout her tenure at CDPHP, Tara has overseen the Medicaid pharmacy benefit, implemented a range of clinical programs, and directed drug utilization strategies across all lines of business. In December 2024, she was appointed President of ConnectRx Services, LLC, CDPHP’s retail pharmacy entity.

A dedicated advocate for her profession and community, Tara stepped into the role of residency program director in January 2021. Committed to cultivating clinical excellence and professional growth, Tara oversees the program’s experiences, the residents’ and preceptors’ development and continuous improvement of the program. She is passionate about mentoring residents in a supportive learning environment that empowers the residents to reach their full potential, gaining as many valuable skills as possible before the completion of the residency year. 

Diplomat of the Year Award

Jennifer B. Harris, PharmD
Dyne Therapeutics
Jennifer B. Harris, PharmD, is a population health leader with a career spanning Health Plan, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Industry Medical Affairs. Her career has been defined by a commitment to advancing population health outcomes by improving patient access to critical resources and pharmaceuticals.  

Dr. Harris first became involved with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) as a student attending a national conference. That experience sparked a lasting dedication to the organization and the profession. She went on to complete an AMCP Accredited PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency with Humana. During her residency she discovered her passion for working with customers and went to work on the Humana Value-Based Provider Networks in Pharmacy for the Florida and Mid-Atlantic Regions. She then used her extensive managed care background to work in Medical Market Access for Pfizer Oncology and now Dyne Therapeutics.  

Diplomat of the Year Award

Vimal Reddy
GSK
Vimal is a Director of Medical Accounts at GSK where he is responsible for partnering with population health decision makers at large payers and health systems. Vimal also held the role of VP of Payer Access Strategy at a startup market access agency focused on access, payer marketing, and strategy in rare disease.

 Prior to transitioning into industry, Vimal spent a decade in managed care, including roles as Senior Director of Formulary Strategy at OptumRx and Health Plan Clinical Advisor at CVS/Caremark. He began his career as Quality Improvement Clinical Pharmacist at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, working on STAR ratings and improving access to care. Vimal completed a managed care residency at Ohio State University Health Plan. 

JMCP Award of Excellence

Daniel Sheinson, PhD
"Impact of copay maximizers on total patient liability among patients using specialty medicines"

Danny Sheinson is a Senior Principal Data Scientist at Genentech, where he began his post-graduate career and has worked for the past 11 years. He joined the company in 2014 as a biostatistician supporting preclinical and early clinical research and development activities. In 2017, Danny moved into a data scientist role with the US health economics and outcomes research team, where he focused on real-world evidence generation across the company’s portfolio and helped establish the capability to build and adapt health economic models to meet US payer needs.

Specializing in causal inference methods for observational studies, Danny helped advance best practices for real-world data analysis across Genentech and Roche and standardized the programming and execution of studies using administrative claims data. In addition to product-level research, Danny helped support the US health policy and evidence teams with above-brand research demonstrating disparities in access to biomarker testing, the impact of copay accumulator and maximizer programs, and factors influencing patient out-of-pocket costs. Currently, Danny is helping the US public policy team apply evidence to inform patient and issue advocacy.
