AMCP Research Rundown — Helping Patients with NSCLC Access Targeted, Personalized Treatments
What’s AMCP Research Institute (ARI) been working on lately? This week, we’re giving an update on the ARI Project, Advancing Coverage for Comprehensive Biomarker Testing in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): A LUNGevity and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Research Initiative.
This project aims to better understand how health plans make coverage decisions for comprehensive biomarker testing, a critical step in helping patients with NSCLC access targeted, personalized treatments.
The survey has been finalized and is slated to launch next week to regional and mid-size health plans. It will explore factors that influence coverage decisions, including how clinical guidelines are interpreted, concerns about different testing approaches, and how coverage policies are communicated to providers.
Findings from this work will help identify opportunities to improve consistency in coverage decisions and expand patient access to biomarker testing and precision medicine.
