The AMCP Residency Director/Preceptor Award was established in 2017 to recognize an AMCP member making a significant contribution to managed care pharmacy by being a managed care residency program director or preceptor.  Note: For recognition of those who are preceptors for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) and/or Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) rotation as required by pharmacy school curriculum see AMCP Experiential Education Preceptor Award.

An AMCP member who has served as a residency director or preceptor for a PGY1 managed care pharmacy residency program.

Nominations can be made by an AMCP member, a current resident pharmacist or anyone who is knowledgeable about the nominee’s service as a Managed Care Residency program director or preceptor.  Nominations are to include a letter of nomination that includes a statement of no more than 500 words describing the nominee’s service as a residency director or preceptor and how it has contributed to advancing managed care pharmacy.  Self-nomination is not acceptable.

The recipient is selected by a selection committee composed of members of the AMCP Schools of Pharmacy Relations Committee for the first four years.  Starting in the fifth year, past recipients of the award will serve as the selection committee for this award.  The recipient of this award is not eligible to be selected as the recipient of the AMCP Experiential Education Preceptor Award in the same year.

The AMCP Residency Director/Preceptor Award is presented annually at the AMCP Annual Meeting & Expo. The recipient receives a plaque, a complimentary registration and travel reimbursement (up to $1,000) to the AMCP Annual Meeting & Expo where the award is presented.  In addition, residency programs with award recipients will receive acknowledgement at the AMCP Nexus Residency Showcase.
