Driven primarily by delivery-system reform aimed at achieving greater value amid rising health care costs, accountable care organizations (ACOs) have grown dramatically since the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Given the role medications serve with patients, this evolving business model is likely to incorporate some aspects of pharmacy management principles and influence how pharmacists are engaged with provider organizations as well as the managed care organizations with whom they contract. Join us on August 6th to review the results of the AMCP's recently conducted an environmental assessment on this topic. This webinar will highlight the role of pharmacy management in ACOs for the leadership of accountable care organizations. Topics covered include the role of pharmacy management principles, level of risk in medication costs, ability to meeting quality measures and pharmacist roles within these organizations. AMCP membership is encouraged to use the assessment results to showcase the pharmacist’s role in medication management processes and procedures, and therefore demonstrate the critical role of pharmacists and the importance of integrating pharmacy management principles for their patient populations.
Speakers:
- Larry Blandford, PharmD, Hobart Innovations
