Special Features

Our residency focuses on business analytics and leadership. Residents spend a large amount of time interacting with business analysts and leadership to understand how we use data (both internal data and published literature) to evaluate clinical program and/ or tier placement strategies of pharmaceutical products. Additionally, our resident learns how we use data to track the performance of various strategic initiatives. Clinical knowledge is critical in the residency, but is used to develop strategies, review evidence and develop presentations to thought leaders rather than to provide individual patient care. Unlike many traditional residencies, we do not have the resident rotate through various departments every 4-5 weeks. The resident stays within our group for the entire year but because our group interacts with many other departments in the organization, they learn about all aspects of pharmacy management in this manner. The resident is highly involved in the evaluation and development of strategic initiatives within our group and then works with other departments within the organization as the strategy is further developed and then implemented. This allows the resident to be part of a project from start to finish rather than bouncing from project to project.
