New Practitioner Award
DESCRIPTION:
The AMCP New Practitioner Award was established in 2015 to recognize an AMCP member making a significant contribution to managed care pharmacy within five years of graduation from first professional degree in pharmacy, medicine, or nursing.
CRITERIA:
An AMCP member who has made a contribution to managed care pharmacy within five years of graduation from a first professional degree program in pharmacy, medicine or nursing and has been actively engaged with AMCP at the local or national level. The five-year window is from when the award is given not when application is submitted. (For example, those nominated for the 2020 awards would include those that graduated beginning in 2015.) Selection criteria will focus on contributions post-graduation and/or post-residency.
NOMINATION PROCESS:
Nominations are accepted from any AMCP member and include up to a 500-word statement describing the contribution deemed worthy of recognition. Self-nominations are not permitted. In addition, the nominees’ current Curriculum Vitae (CV) and two (2) additional letters of support are to be included in the nomination package.
SELECTION PROCESS:
The recipient is selected by a selection committee composed of members of the AMCP Organizational Affairs Committee for first four years. Starting in the fifth year, past recipients of the award will serve as the selection committee for this award. See also AMCP’s Awards Policy (Section 8.1 Awards Policy) for more information on the process for appointing award selection committees.
NATURE OF AWARD:
The AMCP New Practitioner Award is presented annually at the AMCP spring meeting. The recipient receives a plaque, a complimentary registration and travel reimbursement (up to $1,000) to the AMCP spring annual meeting.
