AMCP Names Mason Johnson 2022–2023 Executive Fellow in Health Care Association Leadership

Alexandria, Va., April 5, 2022 — AMCP has selected Mason Johnson, BS, PharmD candidate, class of 2022, as its 2022–2023 Executive Fellow in Health Care Association Leadership. This year-long training program provides a rich, in-depth learning experience for pharmacists interested in health care association leadership or managed care pharmacy.

“I think when you mix innovation with a passion for helping others then you truly can change lives, and that is what it is all about. I am excited to join this organization,” said Johnson.

Graduating from East Tennessee State University’s Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy in 2022 with his PharmD degree, Johnson brings a diverse background of experience as a pharmacy intern at the university as well as an intern at H. Johnson Pharmacy, Inc. When not working in a pharmacy, Johnson spends his time volunteering with the American Heart Association, Walgreens flu vaccine clinic, and the State of Franklin Healthcare Associates.

AMCP created the Executive Fellowship in Health Care Association Leadership in January 2021 to help develop leaders in managed care pharmacy and association management by providing collaborative training and professional development. This year-long program covers a wide range of association leadership areas, including governance, strategy development and implementation, strategic communications, and operational leadership. Qualified candidates must have graduated or will graduate from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy prior to starting the fellowship.

Johnson will begin his fellowship July 1, 2022, and will work directly with the chief executive officer, chief operating officer, and other AMCP leaders.
