    » Academic Detailing and Comparative Effectiveness Proposals Supported
    AMCP has posted letters of support for two bills introduced earlier this year in Congress: the “Independent Drug Education and Outreach Act of 2008,” which would provide grants or contracts for prescription drug education and outreach programs for health care providers and their patients, and the “Comparative Effectiveness Research Act of 2008,” which would create an institute that would conduct specific research on the effectiveness of alternative health care treatments.     In a new report issued today, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy has released data that shows the financial impact of the mandate contained within Section 176 of the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 stipulating that all Medicare Part D formularies contain all drugs in the "six protected classes."

    » New Report on Effects of Formulary Mandates Released
    AMCP has just released a report on the financial impact of the mandate to include all drugs from the six "protected classes" on Medicare Part D formularies, included in Section 176 of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008. The stipulations contained in Section 176 will affect  Part D formularies to be submitted for approval in the spring of 2009. To read the report, click here.
