Applicants must submit the following for consideration: Curriculum Vitae, letter of Intent, official pharmacy school transcript (sent directly from the school), and three letters of recommendation (sent directly from letter writers). Application materials may be sent by mail or electronically (pharmd@caloptima.org). On-site interviews for selected candidates will be required. Additionally, residents must be graduates from an accredited school of pharmacy and eligible for licensure in California by July 1, 2021. Residents must be licensed as Registered Pharmacist in California within 120 calendar days of entering the program.

CalOptima is a County Organized Health System (COHS) authorized by federal law to administer Medi-Cal benefits for Orange County residents. It is governed by a private board of directors and manages the health care for over 729,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Orange County, California. CalOptima started a Medicare Advantage-Prescription (MA-PD) Special Needs Plan in January of 2006 providing Medicare Part A, B and D benefits. OneCare serves approximately 1,400 beneficiaries in Orange County who have both Medi-Cal and Medicare benefits. CalOptima’s PACE program (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) serves over 395 members. PACE is a community-based Medicare and Medi-Cal program that provides coordinated and integrated health care services to frail elders to help them continue living independently in the community. The program provides all the acute and long-term care services covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal. The newest CalOptima program is OneCare Connect Cal MediConnect Plan (Medicare-Medicaid Plan) serving over 13,900 members. This health plan combines Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits.
