AMCP Announces the 2023-2024 AMCP Board Election Results
AMCP congratulates the following officers elected to serve on the 2023-2024 Board of Directors: President-elect Christina Barrington, Treasurer Amanda Bain, and Directors Maribeth Bettarelli (2nd Term) and Ann Schuster. Elected board members, as well as those continuing on the board: President Jim Hopsicker, Immediate Past President Deb Curry, and Directors Jessica Daw, Matt Mitchell, Carly Rodriguez, and Susan Cantrell, AMCP CEO will be sworn in at AMCP 2023, March 21-24, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.

President-elect Christina Barrington, PharmD is currently Vice President of Pharmacy Programs for Priority Health, where she is responsible for setting strategy for the pharmacy division and plays a key role in forecasting pharmacy trends and implementing innovative programs to manage and promote the strategic vision of Priority Health. Additionally, Dr. Barrington serves on the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Board of Directors, as Treasurer, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. She has served three terms as President, for the Academy Managed Care Pharmacy Midwest Affiliate. Dr. Barrington formerly served as a member of the 2016 URAC Measures Advisory and Research Group, and as a board member, for the Illinois Foundation for Quality Health Care, and on the National Diabetes Education Panel.
Dr. Barrington earned her Bachelor and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed her residency in clinical pharmacy practice at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Treasurer Amanda Bain, PharmD, MBA, MPH, FAMCP is currently the Director of Pharmacy and Care Management for The Ohio State University Health Plan. She is accountable for the design, implementation, and evaluation of medical and pharmacy benefits, information systems, clinical programs, and population health initiatives. Dr. Bain currently leads and is responsible for healthcare spend and budgets across nursing, pharmacy, and provider relations teams and is the director of the accredited managed care pharmacy residency program. She has chaired and/or served numerous AMCP committees including Membership, Organizational Affairs, Professional Practice, and Schools of Pharmacy Relations, and has represented AMCP on several Pharmacy Quality Alliance workgroups. Dr. Bain is a current AMCP Diplomat and the Midwest Region Diplomat Director. She is a past Secretary/Treasurer and founding member of the AMCP Ohio-Kentucky Affiliate. Dr. Bain has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and economics and graduate degrees in pharmacy, public health, and business administration.
Director Maribeth Bettarelli, PharmD is currently the Executive Director of Quality and Accreditation at CVS Caremark, where she oversees the organization’s accreditations, supports health plans’ accreditation needs, provides internal strategic guidance to ensure compliance, and encourages continuous quality improvement initiatives. She has worked in managed care pharmacy for over 20 years and has experience in account management, clinical program development, medical writing, and utilization management. She is a longstanding member of AMCP and has served on multiple committees including Schools of Pharmacy Relations, Membership, Organizational Affairs, and the JMCP Editorial Advisory Board. She is a founding member of the AMCP Midwest Affiliate, a Silver Level AMCP Champion, and a current Director on the AMCP Board. Her dedication to the pharmacy profession and AMCP, along with her passion for high-quality, equitable health care access for all, demonstrate her qualifications and commitment to serve on the AMCP Board of Directors.
Director Ann Schuster, PharmD, FAMCP is currently Senior Director, Government Clinical Pharmacy Programs at Cigna, she began her interest in managed care pharmacy during her first year of pharmacy school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a committed member of AMCP for nearly 20 years, she has enjoyed serving as chair of the Educational Affairs, Professional Practice, and Schools of Pharmacy Relations Committees, a member of the Organizational Affairs Committee, a Diplomat, and a Conference Buddy. She participates in AMCP Partnership Forums to represent a health plan perspective and create strategies to improve patient health.
After completing a residency, Annie began her pharmacy career with HealthSpring. Now as the lead of the Cigna Government clinical pharmacy team, she oversees the development and maintenance of formulary and medical drug strategies and pharmacy quality improvement programs. She also serves as Cigna Medicare’s Residency Program Director and precepts APPE and AMCP Foundation intern students to support future leaders, like many AMCP members supported her development.
