Key Focus Areas - Goals and Objectives The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy continues to invest strategically in the profession of managed care pharmacy through its six key focus areas. Objectives: 1. AMCP will initiate a comprehensive member awareness program resulting in greater knowledge and appreciation of AMCP products and services. 2. AMCP will develop and distinguish its unique brand and value proposition. 3. AMCP will have a robust membership recruitment and retention program. 4. AMCP will strengthen its student pharmacist initiatives by increasing visibility of the Academy and managed care pharmacy in the schools and colleges of pharmacy. Advocacy
Objectives: 1. AMCP will effectively represent managed care pharmacy in public policy a. Increase recognition as the source of reliable information when decisions are being made that impact managed care pharmacy. b. Increase reputation as a critical player on managed care pharmacy issues that affect patient care. 2. AMCP will improve the image and public opinion of managed care pharmacy. a. Utilize data and evidence to affect change. b. Distinguish unique characteristics and value (brand) of managed care pharmacy. c. Engage AMCP membership as advocates for managed care pharmacy. 3. AMCP will focus on influencing behavior to improve medication therapy. a. Underscore patient responsibilities with regard to medication therapy. b. Encourage prescriber compliance with formularies. 4. AMCP will be influential advancing strategies to improve the practice of pharmacy in the areas of quality measurement, medication therapy management programs, use of evidence based medicine, health information technology, and the pharmacist's role in the evolution of the patient centered medical home. 5. AMCP will establish and/or strengthen coalitions and collaborative relationships with organizations dedicated to the enhancement of patient care. 6. AMCP will establish and/or strengthen partnerships with academia. Organizational Strength Objectives: 1. AMCP will exercise the utmost fiscal scrutiny and vigilance. a. Maintain sound fiscal policies that focus on return on investment. b. Diversify revenue streams if opportunities present themselves. 2. AMCP will maintain a strong and diversified leadership base. a. Encourage depth and breadth in leadership. b. Increase leadership and volunteer opportunities. 3. AMCP and FMCP will be in operational and strategic alignment in support of AMCP's goals. 4. AMCP will embrace and invest in sound technology infrastructure. 5. AMCP will leverage alliances and collaboration as a means to expand its impact and stretch its resources through development of projects that are mutually beneficial to the Academy's membership and partnering organizations. Practice Innovation Goal: AMCP will support and promote continuous practice improvement and innovation and will act as a facilitator to integrate the nation's fragmented health care system. Objectives: 1. AMCP will promote the cutting edge application and incorporation of technology into the practice of managed care pharmacy. 2. AMCP will position itself as a leader in the application of personalized medicine in managed care pharmacy and its impact on overall healthcare. 3. AMCP (in concert with FMCP) will develop a research strategy. 4. AMCP will identify tools for the managed care pharmacist to use in advancing evidence based health where gaps exist. 5. AMCP will promote managed care pharmacy interest within comparative effectiveness research. Recognizing Excellence Goal: AMCP will acknowledge and promote best practices that motivate members and build awareness around Academy innovations. Objectives: 1. AMCP will promote its members for internal and profession-wide awards and recognitions including individual and group achievements. a. Develop a recognition program around practice innovations. b. Recognize and celebrate member achievements. c. Develop a showcase strategy that recognizes excellence. d. Broadcast all AMCP award winners to appropriate media outlets. Quality Education Goal: AMCP will offer viable, timely, relevant, and accessible educational offerings in a variety of delivery modalities that meet and anticipate member needs and preferences. Objectives: 1. AMCP will provide member-valued national meetings. 2. AMCP will feature high quality and timely continuing education offerings. 3. AMCP will provide sought after career development offerings. 4. AMCP will institute a variety of delivery modalities to accommodate its members' needs and preferences. Working to Achieve AMCP's Vision The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy relies on its members to achieve its vision of managed care pharmacy improving health care for all. These members volunteer their time and efforts to advance the goals and objecᆳtives outlined in the Academy's Strategic Plan. AMCP's volunteers serve on a wide variety of Committees and Task Forces.
