    AMCP Selects Robert A. Fulcher, CAE, as Vice President of External Relations

    Alexandria, Va., August 1, 2012 – The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is pleased to announce that Robert A. Fulcher, CAE, has joined the organization as the new Vice President of External Relations. In this role, Fulcher will oversee a wide range of AMCP activities, including member services, communications, marketing, meetings, education and website development.

    Fulcher has more than 30 years of experience in health care association management, and most recently served as Director of Publications at the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.

    His previous positions have included Senior Director of Marketing & Communications at The Endocrine Society; Chief Operating Officer at the American Society of Nephrology; and Vice President of Membership & Marketing/Publisher of Books & Electronic Products at the American Pharmacists Association.

    In these roles, Fulcher has had responsibility for association branding, conference planning and operations, market research, and editorial operations for biomedical journals, magazines, newsletters and books. He also has lead teams that have achieved record membership levels.

    In his new position at AMCP, he will report to AMCP Chief Executive Officer Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM.

    “Bob is a seasoned professional who will bring a wealth of ideas and experience to the Academy,” said Rosato. “AMCP will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year, and having Bob onboard will help position our organization for continued success in the next quarter century.”

    The new position of Vice President of External Relations was created as part of the Academy’s realignment plan that was approved by the AMCP Board of Directors in February 2012. Among other things, the realignment aims to create a closer working relationship between AMCP and the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy. The other new Vice President positions created under the plan are:

    • VP of Government Affairs, which includes oversight of regulatory affairs, legislative affairs, policy and grassroots advocacy;
    • VP of Finance, which includes oversight of accounting and office management; and
    • VP of Human Resources, which includes oversight of information technology infrastructure.

    “The Academy must remain nimble to meet the needs of our members in a rapidly changing economic environment,” Rosato said. “Our new organizational structure will ensure that AMCP is well positioned to succeed in today’s dynamic health care marketplace.”
