Principles In Practice

The "Principles in Practice" series is a set of educational case studies provided by The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. The series was developed to enhance the awareness of key managed care principles and the application of important practice methods used in the managed care pharmacy practice setting.  These cases are intended for use by pharmacy professors as an adjunct to didactic training of the practice of pharmacy in the managed care setting. 

  

Format:   

Each case topic includes:  

  • STUDENT VERSION - Containing key elements 1-4, 6 
  • PROFESSOR VERSION - Containing all key elements 
  • PROFESSOR SLIDE DECK - PowerPoint tool reviewing key element 5    

 

Key Elements:   

  1. KEY TERMS: Listing of terms used within the case that provides reviewer baseline for understanding educational objectives. 
  2. PRINCIPLE: Key conventional categories, which describe the practice of pharmacy in the managed care setting.  
  3. PRACTICE: Detailed subcategory method supporting underlying objectives of above stated PRINCPLE.  
  4. CASE STUDY: Brief description of the practice environment and scenario requiring the application of the PRACTICE method  stated above.  
  5. APPLICATION/TEACHING POINTS: Guideline provided to professor to assist in discussion of case. 
  6. REFERENCES: A listing of references providing the reviewer with additional sources of information in greater detail, scope and depth.
