AMCP Nexus 2015 Gathers Thousands of Managed Care Professionals in Orlando, Fla.

Orlando, Florida, Oct. 26, 2015 — The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is pleased to announce that nearly 2,500 managed care pharmacy professionals from across the country, Europe and Canada will gather in Orlando, Florida, this week to attend AMCP Nexus 2015: Connecting Health Care and Innovation, the largest fall meeting dedicated to furthering knowledge and best practices to ensure patients have access to needed medications.

“We are delighted to bring together some of the top health care thought leaders anywhere to discuss trends, examine challenges and share strategies for improving America’s health care system,” says AMCP CEO Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM. “AMCP Nexus 2015 is our most successful fall conference ever and our fifth successful national meeting in a row – demonstrating once again just how important managed care pharmacy is to patient care and the stewardship of resources.”

Nexus 2015, which takes place Oct. 26-29 in the Gaylord Palms Hotel & Conference Center, will feature 30 sessions across five educational tracks: (1) Current Aspects in Specialty Pharmacy Management; (2) Changing Health Care Environment; (3) Drugs, Diseases and the Managed Care Impact; (4) Practical Applications of Managed Care Pharmacy Research; and (5) Inside the Crystal Ball. Session topics include clinical pathways for oncology, management of chronic conditions, appropriate use of opioids, improving patient medication adherence, preparing for biosimilars in the marketplace, and the growing orphan drug industry. The vast majority of these sessions offer continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit for pharmacists.

The meeting also will include a plenary session, known as the Innovation Interchange Session, featuring a keynote address by renowned physician and writer Siddhartha Mukherjee, a cancer specialist who wrote the bestselling and Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.”

Other highlights of Nexus include a vibrant expo hall, The Exchange, in which more than 50 industry leaders can meet face-to-face with managed care pharmacists to discuss the latest ideas, tools and advancements in the field. The Exchange also is the site of the Science & Innovation Theater presentations, which will offer a deep dive into the latest innovations in health care today. In addition, The Exchange will present more than 230 scientific poster presentations.

Also at Nexus is the 18th Annual AMCP Managed Care Residency Showcase, which provides a forum for student pharmacists to meet with representatives from managed care pharmacy residency and fellowship programs across the country. In addition, Nexus will be the site of eight non-commercial, industry-supported satellite symposia. These events extend the educational experience of conference attendees and offer CPE credit, as well as some offering continuing medical education credit and continuing nursing education credit.

Finally, Nexus 2015 offers various social networking opportunities for attendees, and will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the AMCP Foundation with a large garden party.
