Record Number of Donors Top AMCP Foundation Annual Appeal

Alexandria, Va., Jan. 22, 2015 – The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation today announced that its first-ever annual appeal, Building a Bridge to the Future, reached its 2014 fundraising goal with support from a record number of donors. By year's end, more than 400 individuals and companies had generously given nearly 600 contributions totaling $93,587 for the Foundation’s key educational and research initiatives, a show of support well over the annual average of 120 individual Foundation donors.

“On behalf of the AMCP Foundation Board of Directors, I want to thank the individuals and organizations that contributed to this major achievement,” said AMCP Foundation Chairman Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM.  “We knew our loyal members would respond with generosity, but we never imagined 400 individuals would take up the challenge.”

In 2014 the Foundation undertook two major initiatives. In October it published “Ahead of the Curve: Top 10 Emerging Health Care Trends,” a report that capped a six-month research project involving a comprehensive literature review and contributions from an advisory panel of health care thought leaders.  Also in October the AMCP Foundation held its widely attended annual symposium, titled “Specialty Pharmacy and Patient Care: Are We at a Tipping Point?” Leading health care experts focused on the specialty drug conundrum of “why something so great is so expensive?”

“Through generosity like this, the Foundation will be able to continue its programs to support education and research that advances managed care pharmacy and helps achieve the Triple Aim of health reform: improvements in the patient experience, population health and affordability,” Rosato said.

The campaign had 100 percent support from members of both the Foundation Board of Trustees and AMCP Board of Directors.  Additionally, 12 corporations generously provided sponsorships and grants to support campaign fundraising events: Allergan, Inc.; AMCP/eDossier System; Amgen, Inc.; Biogen; Catamaran; Dymaxium; Genentech Inc.; Gilead Sciences, Inc.; Incyte; Johnson & Johnson Health Care Companies; Pfizer Inc.; and Veridicus Health.

Plans are now underway for a second annual appeal as part of the Foundations’ 25th Anniversary celebration in June 2015.
