AMCP Announces Tampa Keynoters: Scott Gottlieb, MD and Jim Murphy & Afterburner

AMCP announced the keynote speakers for AMCP's 26th Annual Meeting & Expo -- the meeting in Tampa on April 1-4, 2014, is expected to draw more than 3,500 managed care pharmacists, physicians and other practitioners from across the nation.

Alexandria, Va., February 5, 2014 — "One speaker brings audiences back to earth, the others lift them into space," said Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) CEO Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM in announcing the keynote speakers for AMCP's 26th Annual Meeting & Expo in Tampa on April 1-4, 2014. Scott Gottlieb, M.D. and Jim Murphy and Afterburner are expected to address more than 3,500 pharmacists, medical directors, pharmacy benefit managers, physicians and other practitioners from across the nation.
 
"This year's general session speakers will offer Academy audiences a dynamic range of topics, from incisive, expert commentary on the Affordable Care Act to high-energy, flawless strategies for business success," said Rosato. Scott Gottlieb, M.D. – Practicing Physician and Former Deputy Commissioner, FDA 
One of the most sought-after speakers on the Affordable Care Act, Dr. Gottlieb addresses, challenges and dissects the most formidable issues facing health care, sometimes in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, other times on camera for Fox News and CNBC. He brings a unique vantage point, being a practicing physician and former senior government official. Currently resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and clinical assistant professor at NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Gottlieb served as FDA deputy commissioner (2005-07) and before that, the FDA's director of medical policy development (2003-04). More recently, he worked on Medicare Part D as a senior adviser to the CMS administrator.
