AMCP Nexus Registrations Running Ahead of 2012

Registration Still Open for Oct. 15-18 Meeting in San Antonio

For Immediate Release

Alexandria, Va., September 18, 2013 — The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) announced that, as of today, registrations for AMCP Nexus 2013, its new Fall conference, are running 30 percent ahead of the Fall 2012 conference’s on this date a year ago.

“We couldn’t be happier with the response to AMCP Nexus 2013,” said AMCP CEO Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM. “After last year’s meeting, we listened to our members and came up with an almost entirely new concept: a learning and networking experience that will give members a nexus between managed care pharmacy, the marketplace, and major developments in health care.”

AMCP Nexus 2013: Connecting Health Care and Innovation, to be held October 15-18 in San Antonio, will bring together nationally known authorities and thought leaders on managed care and specialty pharmacy. They will address the challenges facing the health care system and explore ways to improve patient outcomes and make health care more affordable.

Another AMCP Nexus 2013 innovation is its four educational tracks, which organize nearly two dozen sessions into major topics. They include Health Care Reform; Specialty Pharmacy, sponsored by Armada Health Care and Specialty Pharmacy Association of America; Clinical Breakthroughs; and Research in Managed Care.

Also added this year are “Innovation Interchange Sessions,” which will feature nationally known thought leaders on health care. Atul Butte, MD, PhD, recently honored by the White House as a Champion of Change, is a pediatrician, Stanford medical professor, researcher, entrepreneur and, with his appearance in 2012, TEDMED star. Jeff Goldsmith, PhD, of Health Futures, Inc. and the University of Virginia, is one of the nation’s foremost health industry analysts, who comments, writes and lectures about health services management, biotechnology, the future of health services and health reform.
