Based in Oregon, PHP coordinates care with Providence hospitals, physician groups, home services, and specialty services. Additionally, PHP provides benefits for over 600,000 members across five states and services all lines of business, including Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and Administrative Services Only (ASO).
The PHP Managed Care residency program is designed to provide a solid foundation in population-based pharmaceutical care. Primary emphasis is placed on the development and implementation of medication use management initiatives and policies, medication therapy management, formulary management, quality and outcome assessment, drug information, and development of effective communication skills. As part of an integrated health system, the resident will have learning experiences based at PHP, but also at other pharmacy sites throughout PH&S in Portland. Through the resident Citywide program, residents also have the opportunity to complete an elective Teaching Certificate program offered jointly through Oregon State University and Pacific University colleges of pharmacy. Other electives offered include administration, transitions of care and ambulatory care. The resident will complete the residency having developed a multitude of skills in population health management and be prepared to be a pharmacist leader in the managed care setting.
