Special Features:
The Ohio State University Health Plan is an affiliate of the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University (OSUWMC). As a result of our relationship with OSUWMC and The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, managed care pharmacy residents have opportunities to participate in educational and networking activities in collaboration with ambulatory, community, and medical center pharmacy residents. This includes the potential to obtain a teaching certificate. Residents also have the unique opportunity to serve the Rx Ohio Collaborative (RxOC), an expanding benefit initiative for self-insured Ohio-based employers enacted to save money on medication costs at both the institutional and consumer level. Beyond cost savings, the RxOC works with the Institute of Therapeutic Innovations & Outcomes (ITIO) to create strategies focused on positively impacting patient health and influencing the health care system to benefit participants and plan sponsors. Residents will actively participate in pharmacy-related functions in the following areas: pharmacy benefit design, formulary management, utilization management, advanced drug information, medication therapy management, account management, vendor management, quality improvement, pharmacoeconomics, policy development, program implementation, outcomes evaluation, and teaching (both didactic and experiential). We highly value patient-centered, team-based care and as such our residents are immersed in collaborative care opportunities with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, behavioral health specialists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and other health care professionals both within and outside of the health plan.
